A suspect has finally been arrested and charged in connection with the death of Rihanna’s cousin.
In
case you were unaware, Rihanna’s cousin,Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, was
senselessly shot and killed last week in Barbados while walking home
during the country’s Boxing Day celebration the day after Christmas.
Rihanna had just spent the day with him the day before on Christmas, and
later shared a touching video tribute in his honor. While police had
been busy looking for a suspect, it appears they have now found their
man.
According to the local news outlet Barbados Today,
23-year-old Shawayne DaShawn Williams of St. Michael, Barbados was
arrested and charged with the killing of Alleyne. At the time, Williams
was not required to enter a plea, even though witnesses say he was
showing no emotions as the charges were read to him. A number of curious
onlookers gathered outside the courthouse, including two of the
victim’s sisters.
Williams
will be held in prison until his next court appearance on January 31,
2018. As of now, there’s still no details or possible motives to the
senseless act, but time will hopefully unfold that.
As
for what happened on that fateful day, it’s believed that Rihanna’s
cousin, Alleyne, was walking through a track near his home at Lakes
Close, Eden Lodge, St Michael, when he was approached by a man
(Williams) who shot him multiple times, then fled the scene. Alleyne was
rushed by a private vehicle to the state-run Queen Elizabeth Hospital
where he later succumbed to his injuries & passed away. He was only
21 years young.
We’ll continue to keep you posted if further information surfaces online. Stay tuned.
